CD Duplication Disc Printing

The CD duplication process usually consists of the burning of information on to a CD-R and then the on body printing of the disc. There are several methods of short run CD duplication printing using either inkjet or thermal printers. The inkjet method adds the print to CD with a special inkjet printable surface. Inkjet printers are relatively in expensive and many home inkjet printers can now print to CDs. Inkjet uses water based inks and therefore the printed discs will always be prone to smudging of the ink.

Specialised thermal CD printers are much more expensive than inkjet but give a professional smudge resistant print finish to the disc. One of the main manufacturers of thermal CD printers is Rimage. The Rimage Prism printer is perfect for discs that require black print of text. graphics and logos. The much more expensive Rimage Everest thermal printer produces a very high quality full colour gloss print to the disc. Testa-Rossa always use these high quality Rimage thermal printers for our CD duplication on body disc print, we never print using the inferior inkjet method.
